Physical Education at Kersey
At Kersey, we are committed to helping every one of our pupils to achieve their best. We recognise the strengths of each individual and work hard to develop these appropriately. We aim to ensure success for all and to create a healthy self-image. We feel that Physical Education plays an important role in helping us to fulfil this.
PE Curriculum
The school seeks to provide high quality PE lessons delivered by confident and well trained teachers. The sports taught are varied, both during the school day and as extracurricular clubs. Opportunities include cricket, netball, table tennis, fencing and badminton. New sports are introduced regularly.
Achievements in sport are recognised in weekly Celebration Assemblies. This includes sporting success achieved out of school as well as that achieved within school.
Sport is also taught as one of the activities in our curriculum enrichment programme. We fund a professional sports coach who teaches across the school in a range of activities.
Sport Premium
The Government 'Sport Premium' funding initiative supports the delivery of PE and sport in primary schools. This funding is ring fenced, and being allocated directly to primary schools across England, providing them with dedicated resources to buy in invaluable expertise and support. Whilst primary schools are able to determine what they believe to be the most appropriate use of this funding, it is important to recognise that groups of schools will also be free to 'pool' their Sports Premium funding to ensure the greatest possible impact. The documents below show how we have spent/intend to spend our recent allocations:
